The Armenian Medical Association, founded in 2002, is a professional union of doctors, biomedical scientists and public health professionals in Armenia. ArMA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with objectives of promoting high-level medical practice, education and research; fostering advanced ethical behavior by medical professionals; protecting independence and rights of both doctors and patients.
The Association units its members to support common values and represent their professional, social and economic interests. ArMA is committed to developing more efficient and effective medical service, research and education in Armenia.
The staff of the ArMA is headed by the President . Association policy is developed by the Executive Committee , whose members are acting ArMA Committee Chairs and Secretaries , however the Congress is the supreme authority of the ArMA. Congress usually meets biannually, and all members have voting rights there. A number of professional Sections, governed by the Scientific Council, advise the Committees on a range of professional issues and guide ArMA members for contemporary standards in successful clinical practice and research. Various staff members of the ArMA disseminate information and support the policy development process.
There are various categories of membership suitable to anyone. Whether you are a clinical practitioner, laboratory researcher, hospital administrator or even retired doctor, you can become a member of the ArMA. While ArMA aims to build a prejudice-free and equal medical community, it is open to all medical professionals from Armenia and abroad regardless nationality, sex, religion and social status. It is a result of this policy that our organization has become fastest growing medical community in Armenia. In 12 months, from January 2003 to January 2004, more than 170 new physicians had become a member of this organization.
The Armenian Medical Association is the member of the World Medical Association .
We are also proud to announce that Armenian Medical Association is the only in Armenia and follows the policy and standards of this authorized international organizations in the region. ArMA staff and members do all in their power to promote knowledge of and an active interest in the activities of the WMA in medical community of Armenia.
